The 2nd round of the Red Bull Crankworx world tour kicked off in the French Alpes where the best downhill mountain bike athletes came to take on one of the gnarliest courses in the world. The 4 day long downhill festival took place on the 9-12th July in Les 2 Alpes, where 32 of the fastest athletes took to the course in hope of winning the European Downhill Cup.

LKI Athlete Sam Blenkinsop smashed the qualifying coming 2nd only loosing to a fellow New Zealander by 0.01 seconds. Carrying a lot of confidence into the final, Sam landed himself on the podium with an impressive 3rd place. Sam now has his sights set on the final round on the World Tour held on 7–16th August in Whistler, Canada.

Sam Blenkinsop hooked up with action sports journalist Simon Makker from makkreative.com in the hills of Christchurch New Zealand to shoot some amazing photographs for our latest advertising with Sam before the World Downhill Mountain Bike series started.  Check out some of the rad pictures!
